Both platonic as well as the physical part of love — defined as what we encounter on a daily basis — are important components for a normal human being.
This was my argument in an article published in these columns, ‘Platonic Love Versus Physical Love’ (October 30, 2011) and a substantial number of seekers responded with their views on the speakingtree.in website. Some of the responses polarised the concept of love either to the plain physical or purely spiritual side; hence I wish to suggest a tripartite definition of love, which I will divide into the aspects of mind, body, and soul.
